“Kokyuu” awarded with the Play Prize 2026
At a ceremony held at the Coliseu dos Recreios in Lisbon on April 23, “Kokyuu” was the winning album in the “Classical Music” category of the 2026 Portuguese Music Play Awards.
Released last November under the Artway Next label, “Kokyuu” brings together five works for soloists and orchestra, performed by Ricardo Toscano (saxophone), Lívia Nestrovski (voice), Filipe Quaresma (cello), João Barradas (accordion) and Horácio Ferreira (clarinet), joined by the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra and the Porto Casa da Música Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Pedro Neves, Joana Carneiro and Bastien Stil.
The five pieces were recorded by Hugo Romano Guimarães at the Hall of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Lisbon) and at the Sala Suggia of Casa da Música (Porto).
Swiss Premiere of "Concerto for Accordion"

Following the previous performances in Lisbon, Porto, Funchal and London, João Barradas returns to perform "Concerto for Accordion and Orchestra" (2023) in a concert that will take place at the Tonhalle in Zurich, promoted by the Helvetia Music Series.
The programme of this event, conducted by Pedro Neves, will also include works by Marcos Portugal, Joly Braga Santos, Maurice Ravel, Rossini and Rachmaninov.

Commissioned by the Mission Structure for the Commemoration of the 5th Centenary of the Birth of Luís de Camões, Luís Tinoco (music) and Luísa Costa Gomes (libretto) wrote "Relicário Perpétuo" - an opera for six singers and chamber orchestra, which will premiere in a production by the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos.
With musical direction by Joana Carneiro, direction and costumes by Nuno Carinhas, set design by Pedro Tudela, lighting by Rui Monteiro and video direction by Luís Porto, this production features performances by André Baleiro, Rodrigo Carreto, Andrea Conangla, Mariana Fabião, André Henriques, Camila Mandillo and João Lourenço Delgado, joined by the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra.
